The Monday Sessions: And Your Bird Can Sing

Part of The Monday Sessions

About And Your Bird Can Sing

It’s been a while since I’ve done anything for the Monday Sessions.  Life post-lockdowns has been a bit nonstop.

Anyhow, I managed to record this a few weeks ago.  Got myself a new Baritone Ukulele and decided to record this track as a challenge.  Firstly, I wanted to see how much I could get out of a the 4 stringed instrument.  I set myself a rule; strictly, no guitars.

Secondly, I’ve always been enamored by the solo at the start of this song – The Beatles version on Revolver has such speed and urgency to it – and always felt it was a bit beyond my skill.  But I was feeling brave and decided to have a crack at it.

The attempt isn’t perfect, but it’s good enough for me.  After listening back to it, I decided it needed to some percussion, so I purchased some claves and maracas.  Expect to hear them again some time.

Enjoy. 🙂

About The Monday Sessions

A quick introduction into what The Monday Sessions are all about;  where I can, I'm planning on recording at least one of these every two weeks.  I plan to record, edit and mix them, and have them ready on Mondays. 🙂

Video: Waiting

About Waiting So here it is, the first song I’ve written in over 10 years.  Aptly called “Waiting”.  The fact it took me years to pull my finger out to write something and 3 months to record the damn thing, only to end up calling it “Waiting”, is an irony not lost on...
