The Monday Sessions: Merry Xmas Everybody

Part of The Monday Sessions

About Merry Xmas Everybody

As John Lennon once sung, so this is Christmas…  So yeah, as Christmas approached us this year, I began to consider whether I should bother recording a festive song or not.

Now, I’m not the biggest fan of Christmas songs, most of them are far too optimistic for me.  But then I suppose if 2020 has told us anything, it’s that we’ve got to be optimistic once every now and then.  Anyhow, my options were limited.

I only like two Christmas songs; one being John Lennon’s Happy Christmas (war is over) – and I wasn’t going to tackle that, as there is no way I could pull off the Yoko part.  The second was Slade’s Merry Xmas Everybody.

I learnt how to play the song, some years ago – I think after hearing it during the Royale Family Christmas Special, where Noel Gallagher covered it.  Listening to my attempt now, I wish I tackled it at a lower key, as I am struggling a bit with the vocals here.

Anyhow, Merry Christmas Everyboday.  Stay safe and have fun.

About The Monday Sessions

A quick introduction into what The Monday Sessions are all about;  where I can, I'm planning on recording at least one of these every two weeks.  I plan to record, edit and mix them, and have them ready on Mondays. 🙂

Archives: L.A. Woman

So back in 2004 to 2006, I could quite often be found in the basement of an office block in Kingston, playing guitar with 3 other musicians. We never performed live, but we'd meet up at least twice a week and play whatever songs we felt like.   Around 2005, I began to...

Video: Waiting

About Waiting So here it is, the first song I’ve written in over 10 years.  Aptly called “Waiting”.  The fact it took me years to pull my finger out to write something and 3 months to record the damn thing, only to end up calling it “Waiting”, is an irony not lost on...
